Dr. Sara Fagen (DMD, MS, Cert Perio, FRCD (C))
Dr. Fagen was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec. She completed her dental training at McGill University, receiving her DMD degree in 2014. In dental school, she received awards in Periodontology and in Dental Public Health. After graduation, Sara pursued her interest in periodontology and implantology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Sara completed her specialty training and obtained her Masters of Oral Science and Certificate of Periodontology in 2017. Dr. Fagen is a board-certified Periodontist and her training focuses on: diagnosis and treatment of periodontal and peri-implant disease, soft tissue grafting for gingival recession, crown-lengthening, bone grafting and dental implant surgery.
Dr. Fagen is a member of the Canadian Academy of Periodontology, American Academy of Periodontology, Canadian Dental Association, New Brunswick Dental Society and Fredericton Dental Society.
Dr. Fagen moved to Fredericton in July 2019 with her husband, who grew up in Woodstock, NB. In her free time, Dr. Sara Fagen enjoys exploring New Brunswick’s hiking trails, waterfalls, and the local breweries.
Jürgen Scheuerl (RDT)
Registered Dental Technician (Bilingual)
- Formally trained and qualified dental technician in South Germany since 1987.
- Completed his New Brunswick registered dental technologist exam in 2000.
- Member of the NBRDTA.
- Owner of Bavarian Dental Ceramics working in partnership with Dr. Wilson since 1997.
Having an in-house dental laboratory is a privilege that is unique to very few dental offices. We can proudly say that we are still the only clinic in New Brunswick with an in-house lab and a qualified technician on site to assist in managing esthetically demanding situations. The use of high quality time tested materials as well as effective communication between Dr. Wilson, Jürgen and the patient, allows us to achieve exceptionally accurate and beautiful restorations in the most efficient manner for our valued patients. Working one-on-one with our highly skilled and detail driven technician truly gives our patients a distinct advantage and complete quality insurance.
Leah Olsen (BScKin)
During her childhood Leah lived in St. Stephen and Woodstock until moving to Fredericton, which is her parents' hometown, in 2001. After graduating from Leo Hayes High School, Leah went on to earn her Registered Massage Therapist diploma then completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, at UNB Fredericton, in 2012. She has fifteen years of experience providing superior, client focused, customer service and six years of office management experience.
Prior to joining the Smile Science team, Leah managed a local Orthopedic Clinic and it was there that she fell in love with office management aspects and became passionate about the correlation of health and the workplace. She believes healthy employees are the happiest employees and that the overall well-being of each individual team member directly corresponds with a productive, positive work environment.
Gaby Poitras (RDA I)
Level I Dental Assistant (Bilingual)
Gaby grew up in Van Buren which is a small close-knit town located in Northern Maine. She worked as a part time Personal Support Worker at Borderview Rehabilitation & Living Center until graduation in 2014. Gaby earned her Level I Dental Assistant Diploma in June of 2015. As a free spirited person who wanted to see more, she decided to move to the beautiful city of Fredericton in June 2017. When she arrived, Gaby worked as a Personal Support Worker at Eden Retirement Villa until she found Smile Science in May of 2019.
Gaby loves spending her days outside, adventuring and exploring abandoned houses. Gaby is an artist who draws and paints whenever time permits. Since joining Smile Science, she has a developed a dream of becoming a Dental Lab Technician because she finds the art of creating and modifying crowns a beautiful art.
Tara O'Donnell (RDA II)
Level II Periodontal & Orthodontic Dental Assistant
Tara was born and raised in Fredericton. She graduated from the Dental Assisting program at Holland College in 2004 as a Certified Level II Dental Assistant and has been working in oral healthcare ever since. Tara is an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant who has advanced training and certification in Orthodontics. During her fifteen years as a Dental Assistant Tara has worked in both General, Periodontal, Orthodontic and Prosthodontic offices. At Smile Science she assists and coordinates our Periodontal and Orthodontic appointments.
Tara loves to spend her spare time outdoors with her friends and family - snowshoeing, hiking, kayaking and camping are some of her favorite activities.
Jolaine Thibodeau (RDA II)
Level II Prosthodontic Dental Assistant (Bilingual)
Jolaine was born and raised in Baie Ste-Anne and graduated from Holland College as certified Level II Dental Assistant in 2001. Since then, she has completed additional training in multiple specialties which has deepened her love for dentistry. She originally joined Dr. Wilson as a Prosthodontic Dental Assistant in 2014. In 2016, her personal life took her to Europe where she took a break from dentistry and acted as Office Manager in a private school for the Canadian Delegation. This experience gave her the opportunity to travel abroad with her family and spend quality time with her husband and two sons. She loves being outdoors, skiing, hiking, working and staying fit.
She returned to dentistry and rejoined the Smile Science team in August of 2019. Jolaine is loving reconnecting with patients as our Prosthodontic Assistant and Treatment Coordinator. She is fully bilingual, trained in digital scanning, has extensive knowledge of prosthodontic procedures as well as implants. Jolaine is dedicated, hardworking and motivated to provide superior care and support to our patients.
Carole Leclair (RDH)
Registered Dental Hygienist (Bilingual)
Carole is our newest team member as she joined Smile Science in December 2019. She has considerable experience as she graduated from College Boreal, as a Registered Dental Hygienist, in 2003. Which gives her seventeen years of chairside experience and a diverse knowledge in many different areas of the dental hygiene profession.
Carole achieved her certificate in local anesthetic, has experience with periodontal hygiene treatments, has training regarding sleep apnea, is a self-initiated hygienist and fully bilingual. Carole is helping our office expand our hygiene department with her superior care of patients, exceptional interpersonal skills and her passion for her profession.
Carole is originally from a small village in the Northern part of the province but has been living in Fredericton since 2005. She has made Fredericton her home by enjoying driving on the trails with her husband in their Jeep, doing outdoor excursions and spending quality time with her friends and family.
Carole is currently accepting new patients! She welcomes all patients with a warming smile and down to earth approach.
